On June 29th, Tartu City Day will be celebrated with a grand gala concert “The Capital of Culture Through the Centuries” at Town Hall Square. Alongside many beloved songs, the concert will feature the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 theme song “Young Blood City,” which will receive an orchestral arrangement specifically for City Day.

The gala concert will take the audience on a musical journey through history. The programme begins with Tartu’s first mention in 1030, passes through several significant moments such as the granting of city rights and the founding of the university, and finally reaches the present day when Tartu holds the title of European Capital of Culture.

The concert starts at 7 PM. Performers include Vanemuine Theatre soloists Karmen Puis and Oliver Timmusk, Estonian National Opera soloist Jassi Zahharov, along with NÖEP, Toomas Lunge, Arno Tamm, Päär Pärenson, Rene Laur, Sofia-Liis Liiv, Gloria Raudjärv, Tristan Erik Teniste, Krislin Sallo, Artur Talts, Laulupesa singers, and conductor Mihhail Gerts with the Pärnu City Orchestra.

The concert will be followed by a rhythmic after-party with music selected by NOËP in the DJ booth.

The gala concert and after-party are free for everyone.
