Come celebrate the longest day of summer and the magical Midsummer night on 23 June in Tartu!

Tartu, together with the Estonian Folk Culture Centre, invites residents of Tartu and friends of the city to celebrate Midsummer Day on 23 June from 11:00 to 00:00 at the outdoor area of the Estonian National Museum by Lake Raadi.

The longest day of summer and the magical Midsummer night. A day filled with a folky atmosphere, new encounters, traditional Midsummer games, creative workshops, and friendly competitions for guests of all ages. Dancing, singing, and live music until the late hours of the night.

The event is free for everyone!

Programme

11–21 / Midsummer Fair (food, drinks, and local crafts; food vendors on site until 00:00)
15–19 / Singing and dancing games, and traditional Midsummer games
15–21 / Midsummer workshops, ponies, and carriage rides
19–00 / Concerts
20–20:15 / Lighting of the Midsummer bonfire

Integration

Tartu Midsummer’s Day is part of a project promoting integration. The goal of the event is to bring together people from different backgrounds living in Tartu, as well as friends who are temporarily in the city, to experience and discover Estonian Midsummer traditions together. People of all languages and cultures are welcome – Tartu Midsummer’s Day is a place where everyone can feel like home.
 
The event is part of the Estonian Centre of Folk Culture’s activities within the European Social Fund and Ministry of Culture (ESF-KUM) program “Supporting Community Activities that Promote Integration”.

Transport and Parking

We encourage everyone to come to Tartu Midsummer’s Day in an environmentally friendly way – by bike, public transport, or on foot. This way, you do good for both yourself and the environment.
