The Old Town Festival “Tartu Buzz” will make from July 26th to August 10, he historic streets come alive with meetings, creativity, and live music.

Why

For two weeks, the old town area will transform into a cozy and diverse meeting place where you can slow down and (re)discover the charm of the city center.

  • The festival’s heart beats along the stretch of Rüütli Street between Munga and Lai Streets, with the main stage located in the green area by St. John’s Church.
  • A vibrant program, created in collaboration with local cultural institutions and businesses, will also lead you on adventures through the city’s intriguing side streets.
  • Discover the map and the charm of Tartu’s Old Town – inviting cafés and restaurants, lively bars, unique shops, and cultural hotspots are waiting for you!

Did you know?

  • Tartu Old Town began at a crossing point of the Emajõgi River in the early Middle Ages.
  • Until the early 19th century, the city remained within its historical boundaries, making the Old Town a bearer of Tartu’s identity and pride.
  • All of Tartu’s oldest surviving landmark buildings are located in the Old Town, telling the story of the city through the centuries.

We encourage everyone to travel to the Old Town Festival in an environmentally friendly way: by bike, public transport, or on foot.
