Flower Crown Workshop
The wreath is a symbol of eternal life and its motif has been used since ancient times. Wearing a wreath on Midsummer’s Day has always been a common tradition – not only for us but also among our neighbours. Come and weave yourself a wreath that brings good fortune.
Price: €5 per person (both children and adults). Paid workshops can be paid for at the info point next to the Distillery (Viinaköök).
Sauna Whisk Workshop
A sauna without a whisk is like Midsummer’s Day without a bonfire. But where to get the right and proper sauna whisk when the sauna is already heating up? Make one yourself? Why not! Making a sauna whisk isn’t difficult, but there are a couple of key tips that make it just right. The master of Saunamaa, Erki, will share his advice and help you make your own whisk on the spot.
Price: €3 per person (both children and adults). Paid workshops can be paid for at the info point next to the Distillery (Viinaköök).
Folklore Club Maatasa Workshops
Folklore Club Maatasa focuses on researching the traditions of Southern Estonia, particularly those of Tartu County, and offers everyone the chance to explore the world of folklore during the Midsummer celebration.
In the workshops, you can:
- Try out various traditional instruments under the guidance of musicians, such as the garmon, small kannel, violin, mandolin, bowed lyre (hiiu kannel), jew’s harp, percussion instruments, and more – and join in on jamming sessions
- Try on traditional folk costumes from Southern Estonia
- Learn about Midsummer rituals
- Weave wristbands, headbands, and garters
