In its fifth summer, Car-Free Avenue will become the heart and meeting point of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. From July 6 to August 12, every Tartu resident, friend, and guest is invited to Car-Free Avenue to enjoy a pleasant place with room for joy and good thoughts!
Car-Free Avenue will be opened by the Emajõe ja Sisevete Festival and a grand opening concert, and the programme on the avenue will conclude with the Tartu Food and Wine Festival. During the event, Vabaduse Avenue will be closed to car traffic from the Tartu Turg to Kaarsild.
Car-Free Avenue is organized by the Tartu 2024 Foundation and the City of Tartu, Tiigi Seltsimaja, Tartu Turg, Tartu Youth Work Center, and many other good cooperation partners.
Soon we will introduce the cultural programme of Car-Free Avenue in more detail and discuss this year’s spatial design.
Car-Free Avenue will be held as a green event to reduce environmental impacts and demonstrate that everyone’s contribution is important in achieving environmental goals.
Autovabaduse puiestee viiendal suvel on see Euroopa kultuuripealinn Tartu 2024 südameks ja kohtumispaigaks. 6. juulist 12. augustini on Autovabaduse puiesteele oodatud iga tartlane, Tartu sõber ja külaline, et nautida mõnusat paika, kus on ruumi rõõmuks ja heade mõtete tekkeks!
Vabaduse puiestee on ürituse ajal turuhoonest kuni Kaarsillani autoliiklusele suletud.
Autovabaduse puiesteed korraldavad SA Tartu 2024 ja Tartu linn, Tiigi Seltsimaja, Tartu Turg, Tartu Noorsootöö Keskus ja paljud teised head koostööpartnerid.
Kultuuriprogramm puiesteel kulgeb kindlas rütmis neljapäevast laupäevani. Neljapäevad on traditsiooniliselt suurkontsertide päralt, mis võtavad sel aastal rahvusvahelised mõõtmed. Lavale on oodata koosseise nii naaberriikidest kui ka kaugemal. Reedel on tantsuõhtud, laupäeviti jagub palju tegemisi peredele ning väljas on kohalikud omavalitsused. Erinevatel õhtutel saab ka värskes õhus filme vaadata.
Autovabaduse puiestee on tulevikku vaatav linnaruum ning kutsub selle külastajaid diskuteerima selle üle, milline on hea avalik ruum.
Ruumiprogrammis on menukas veemängude ala, kus pakuvad rõõmu ja jahutust voolav vesi, pritsivad düüsid ja udukuubik. Võimalus on mängida paelametsas, turnida ronimisrajal ja sõita karusselliga.
Autovabaduse puiestee toimub rohesündmusena, et vähendada keskkonnamõjusid ja näidata, et keskkonnaeesmärkide saavutamisel on oluline igaühe panus.
